Guidelines' Project
I volunteer with MAiDHouse as a Graphic designer, working with the communication team on variations of projects. For the brand guidelines project, the aim was to create design guidelines that could be used by the communication team to present MAiDhouse's identity, goals, values and vision to the public. Moreover, designing with consideration of inclusivity and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) were essential.
Building Brand Guidelines
When I joined MAiDHouse, the brand identity was already created. They provided the communication language, graphic elements, logo, color palette and font. My resposibility was to create guidelines based on the provided content.
Design Direction
Since I was the lead on this project, I set myself and the team goals to envision the guidelines' direction. The design or/and layout must (1) contain contrast for visual balance, (2) be adaptable to fit with upcoming projects' themes, (3) use simple graphic elements to reduce possible visual noise, (4) universal design elements to respect stakeholders coming from different backgrounds and (5) inclusivity in health, age, culture etc.
Samples from the Guideline Booklet
The guideline booklet contains instructions such as communication language, vision, goals, design samples, layouts etc. In this presentation, I am sharing the logo usages, color palette overlay, typography, graphic elements and layouts.
