Project Aim

Dr. Sasha, a pediatric physician who works in the ER at SickKids Hospital, wanted to create a printed document that includes frequently asked Questions. She shared the content, and I started building the layout, graphics, printing options, folding techniques and other set goals. Along the process, we met for feedback as she tested the pamphlet with nurses at the ER.

Goals

I established goals to guide the project's directions. The goals were:

  •  budget friendly: could be printed continuously
  • easy to print and assemble: making it easy for nurses
  • black and white: avoiding biases, creating contrast and considering those who suffer from color blindness
  • back and front A4: a printer that won't limit or affect production and could be found anywhere and used by anyone
  • QR code: providing more information and opening the possibility of transacting information to other languages
  • Simple and inclusive: using front size 12 and abstract illustrations to ensure inclusivity
  • easy interaction: considering caregivers' stress, the pamphlet has to be easy to grab, fold/unfold and fits in most reach-out places as bags or pockets

Outcome

The pamphlet is designed in a brochure style to carry all of the provided information and make it easy to follow without overwhelming the caregiver. The pamphlet is created to be printed in black and white on A4 paper and folded vertical into three equal sections (trifolds).
